On the first day of the Europa League group J, Roma beat Istanbul Basaksehir 4-0 and the European adventure begins in the best way. Giallorossi ahead on 42 'thanks to an own goal by Junior Caicara, clumsy on Spinazzola's cross. In the second half, Pastore and Zaniolo take their places and the young Italian gives Dzeko the 2-0 ball after a splendid move before the personal trio (71 '). In Kluivert's poker recovery (93 ')
Super-Zaniolo, Rome drops poker
A two-faced Rome - slow and with few ideas in the first half, bubbly and at times irresistible in the second half - the European adventure begins on the right footing, trimming three slaps to the unfortunate Basaksehir who holds the field well for a while, until the clumsy own goal by Junior Caiçara who bends his legs to his team mates, completely at the mercy of the Giallorossi in the second half. Fonseca makes a wide turnover and the choice proves to be apt, given that Zaniolo is the best on the pitch and Pastore is just behind him. The two, not surprisingly, are the only dangerous in the first fraction, when the Giallorossi are really struggling to create play and risk a little bit in the restart. Only thanks to a stroke of luck (the autorete), Dzeko and his companions close the first fraction ahead.
In the second half the music is completely different and Rome is fun and entertaining. The Turks leave large spaces, which quickly become lethal. Pastore begins to draw football and on a couple of occasions puts Dzeko in front of Gunok. The door seems to be haunted by the Bosnian, until Zaniolo decides to accelerate on his own: leaving Topal in place, the assist for the companion is only to deposit in the door. The Turks disappear slowly from the field and the Italian player gets the deserved 3-0 goal: this time it is Dzeko who returns the favor. There is also space for Pellegrini, Veretout and Kalinic: the Croatian is a bit rusty and he devours poker, which is served a few minutes later by Kluivert just at the end. After the four goals at the Sassuolo, just as many at the Basaksehir: when this Roma will find greater continuity within the game they will be a bit painful for everyone.
Zaniolo 8 - That it is in the day is already clear after a few seconds, when he commits Gunok after a coast to coast. Its accelerations tear the Turkish rear into pieces. Assist for Dzeko after a splendid personal action, three of a kind with a beautiful left-footed shot and another winning pass for Kluivert. In a word: devastating. Clichy and Topal will remember it for a while.
Dzeko 7 - The Bosnian's game seems haunted, slamming twice against Gunok. Then Zaniolo needs a chocolate just to be discarded and a few minutes later he returns the favor.
Pastor 7 - After such a first time, the Argentine unleashed in the second half when the Turks left plenty of space. Repeated assist starts from his foot.
Gunok 7 - Takes 4 goals and is the best in his field: in the first half he is good at Zaniolo and Pastore, in the second half he hypnotizes Dzeko a couple of times and in the final Kalinic. Innocent on the goals conceded.
Arda Turan 4.5 - The great disappointment of the evening. From the height of his experience he should be the team's guide-man, but the former Barcelona does not guess one that is one and shortly after the hour of play is replaced.
Clichy 4.5 - Once upon a time there was an excellent left back. Zaniolo sneaks away whenever he wants and for the French outside, the night of the Olimpico is a nightmare.
